A Free Erotic Breathwork Session for Black Folx Only

Our rage, our grief, our fear, all of it is valid. Let us come together and hold each other with our breath and feel whatever the fuck it is we want to feel outside of the White Gaze. Let us circle and remind ourselves how precious we are, how valid our emotions are, how much we have overcome, and how far we will go together. Let us gather together and find what comfort we can from one another. To remind our bodies that we have not & will not swallow the lie that it is of low value, To remember we wrote the muthafuckin book on Survival, and we run the Mistress Class on Creating Joy As Sustenance For The Soul. To fall into our connection to the Ancestors who protect us and to our Descendants who will benefit from the holy work that is being done right. To remind ourselves that we come from Warriors, that we are Warrior, and that pleasure and joy are our Divine Birthright. To let our energy bodies take up all the space that is rightfully ours & which is so often denied us. Let us feel all of our heartbeats in the sound of your inhale & exhale.

Breath is an anchor, a vehicle, a springboard. Breath is the glue that keeps us in our bodies & connects us deeply to those around us. Erotic Breathwork is a way of breathing that allows you to access your erotic energy, and harness it for transformative fuel. It is a series of "conscious breathing techniques": intentional ways of inhaling/exhaling in order to quiet the mind & let the body's wisdom come through.

“We tend to think of the erotic as an easy, tantalizing sexual arousal. I speak of the erotic as the deepest life force, a force which moves us toward living in a fundamental way.”

-Audre Lorde

I'm aware that some people use the word "erotic" as a euphemism for "sexual", but that is not how I use it. I'm speaking of the fundamental life force/our connection to Spirit. If you haven't already read it, please read Audre Lorde's political essay "The Uses Of The Erotic: The Erotic As Power" for deeper understanding (ignore the gender essentialism & anti-porn rhetoric).
