Courageous Conversations: Sharing Stories About Non-Monogamy & Polyamory

Courageous Conversations is our monthly in-person community storytelling gathering, held in Oakland, CA. Hosted by somatic relationship coach Aria Diana in partnership with Plura, this unique event dives deep into the intricate emotions, challenges, and joys of non-monogamy and polyamory through the transformative power of storytelling. Together, we create a brave and inclusive space for sharing personal journeys that illuminate love beyond the boundaries of monogamy.

Each month, we focus on a theme such as communication, compersion, jealousy, relationship dynamics, and more. Whether you're new to non-monogamy, experienced in polyamory, or simply curious, Courageous Conversations invites you to listen, learn, and connect with others navigating similar non-traditional relationship paths.

February Valentine's Theme: Love Outside the Box

This month, we invite you to bring a story about the freedom to explore relationships that defy traditional norms. Share how non-monogamy has expanded your capacity to love, connect, or understand relationships in new and meaningful ways. Whether your journey has been joyful, challenging, or a mix of both, your story could inspire and deepen the understanding of others in the room.

Need inspiration? Consider sharing about:

  • A moment of realization when you felt traditional ideas about love and relationships no longer fit—and how that moment shaped your path forward.
  • Breaking free from cultural, religious, or societal expectations to embrace a relationship style that feels authentic and aligned with your values.
  • A transformative experience where non-monogamy helped you discover new ways of giving, receiving, or understanding love.
  • A time when love surprised you by showing up in unconventional or unexpected ways, reshaping your definition of connection.
  • A creative or unique way you’ve celebrated love and connection that reflects your non-monogamous values, challenging traditional Valentine’s Day norms.
  • We welcome stories that are personal, heartfelt, and reflective of your unique relationship journey.
