This class teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. It focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. Class Content: Before giving care and checking an injured or ill person (recognition, taking action, calling EMS, scene size-up, barrier use, checking a responsive/unresponsive/injured/ill person); Cardiac emergencies and giving CPR (heart attack, cardiac arrest, giving CPR); Choking (recognizing and caring for choking). This class is open to all and STRONGLY ENCOURAGED for fwb hosts and stewards. Participants have the option of receiving a two-year certification from the Red Cross for an extra $20 fee. Note: because this presentation is by an outside organization, membership discount pricing and coupon codes do not apply for this class.
