Deconstructing Whiteness

This anti-racism group was created for white-bodied folx seeking to explore whiteness, deepen anti-oppressive practice, and build capacity for transformative change. It is designed to be a safe space for us to explore the personal and collective impact of living in a society built upon an ideology of white supremacy, and welcomes those who are ready to confront white supremacy and systems of oppression. Together we will work to deepen our understanding of how supremacy culture shapes emotions, beliefs, and group dynamics. This tender topic requires that we arrive with vulnerability and openness. In this group we will show up for each other with compassion and care as we explore topics such as unconscious bias, white fragility, and allyship.

This group is led by audrey f. (fae/she/they), student in practicum at Naropa University, supervised by Courtney Watson, LMFT (#98943). audrey is a white (non-melanated) social justice activist who recognizes that unlearning and dismantling systemic white supremacy is a life-long journey. Though facilitator of this group, fae is also a fellow journeyer on this path. audrey is here to both hold space and participate in the process as we engage in this brave and vulnerable work together.

This is a closed, small group (limited to 6 participants) in order to hold vulnerability and trust. This is not about being the perfect ally or activist, but about bravely looking at the way these toxic systems have informed our unconscious belief systems and ways of being in the world. We ask that members commit to at least 5 of the 6 sessions so that our circle remains strong and connected. All sessions are confidential. Selection is first come, first served while also honoring group fit. If demand is high, a second circle may be formed.

Cost: $40/session or $75/session with BIPOC reparation funds included. Low fee available upon request.

Timeline: The first and last sessions will be held in-person, with the remaining sessions being held virtually via google meet.
