Case Scenarios Dungeon Monitor (DM) Training and Playspace Orientation

Back by popular demand! Case Scenarios focuses on general risk awareness for a playspace environment and a non-internationalist, facilitator, and anticipatory approach to the role of dungeon monitors (DMs). It is highly recommended for both experienced and aspiring DMs and event hosts, but is also informative (and entertaining!) for those who do not plan to DM, providing valuable information about safety and risk management, as well as orientation to common playspace rules and etiquette. Come see why this class has been called "The best DM training. Ever." and "A show that must be taken on the road."

Rules can be variable, and this training isn’t associated with any particular venue or event (although we will have DM management representatives from multiple organizations present). Rather than teaching a specific set of rules, we aim to present an overall DM philosophy, increasing your awareness of hazards and incident management.

A San Francisco original, Case Scenarios was created by Stefanos & Shay in 2007. After a brief introduction, they will jump into interactive roleplay scenes, inviting class volunteers to manage and analyze these situations.

Please be aware that this class contains content, including depiction of consent violation, that some people may find triggering.

* Note that if you are interested in being a dungeon monitor, this class alone does not qualify you to do so. Organizations have their own guidelines regarding years of scene experience, shadow shifts, and so on. Being a DM is a challenging role that is not a fit for everyone. Taking this class alone does not qualify nor endorse participants to take on the DM role, however it is a good starting point.
