East Bay Leather Munch April 4

East Bay Leather Munch April 4

Our topic in April will be When Did You “Become” Leather?

Folks in the local Leather community have a saying: If you identify as Leather, then you’re Leather.

But we aren’t born Leather. And not all Leatherfolx go through official Leather training or mentorship processes. We often don’t have a ceremony or identifiable point in time during which our Leather identity is acknowledged and recognized. Not all of us officialize our Leather identity by participating in Leather organizations or families or houses. And ultimately, we know that being Leather is itself a process, and a commitment to growth and learning for the rest of our lives.

When, though, does a person “become” Leather?

Join us on April 4 to talk about the journey that empowered you to identify as a Leather person.

The Leather Munch is for anyone who identifies as Leather, aspires to be Leather or is curious about Leather. We host an evening each month to enjoy community and share knowledge about all things Leather.

-         You may practice Leather as a style, a kink or a subculture. Or Leather may be an identity, a way of life or a spiritual practice for you.

-         Leather may mean patches and pins, flagging, bootblacks, leather gear, cigars, D/s, families and houses. It usually means honorifics, community and history. It always means living by and sharing a set of values with your leather family or community.

-         Leather people do the work, honor their fellows and live their values.

No matter how you define Leather, we welcome you!

We meet 7-9 pm on the first Thursday of each month at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Leandro.
