Ecstatic Dance San Diego returns on Friday, November 21st to Pt. Loma with opening warm class - Rhythm of the Waves facilitated by Gilbert Johnson followed by Ecstatic Dance set by Producer & Ecstatic Dance DJ CodeStar

Ecstatic Dance is a community movement, a sacred space for you to explore, unwind and unfold your true expression.

Come be held by the dance floor, the music and the community, connect non-verbally with yourself and others and tap into the magic of this liberating movement space.

Rhythm of the Waves

Guided by Gilbert Johnson

In this water-themed session, we’ll explore what it feels like to move with the natural rhythm of the ocean. We’ll begin by embodying the ebb and flow of waves, letting our movement crash, recede, and roll like water meeting the shore.

From there, we’ll shift into body-part isolations, learning to guide each section of the body with the same fluidity and intention found in the tides. You’ll practice letting different parts move independently yet harmoniously—like currents weaving beneath the surface.

We’ll close the class with grounding breathwork, reconnecting to the calm, steady pulse of water and allowing that rhythm to settle through the body.

2. No talking on the dance floor

3. Respect yourself and one another

4. No Shoes, No Booze

5. Please also refrain from photos, videos, strong scents/perfumes, glitter and shoes on the dance floor.

6. Touch is Sacred ~ Many people dance in their own space, and others share their space with another. To engage in a dance with someone, use sensitivity: Are they open to sharing their space with me? Mirror movements, offer a hand, brush by, make eye contact, and see & feel how they respond.
