Hey ENM cuties!
We’re continuing our now BIMONTHLY happy hour to connect with other folks who are (or want to be) practicing ethical non-monogamy here in Vancouver. Feel free to bring stories, games, friends/lovers/partners/etc, or just your charming selves - 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month!
Due to pride, our next happy hour is on October 3rd at 7pm at DARBY'S PUB (2001 Macdonald St, Vancouver, BC V6K 3Y2). There is a reservation under the name of Bri (pronounced like brie cheese)!
We’ll have some convo prompts to kick off the evening, and hosts will stay til ~10pm (but feel free to hang for as long as you want). All experience levels and forms of ENM are welcomed. See you there, and spread the word! <3
Host Info:
- Bri (they/them) is a disabled queer and nonbinary settler originally from N'dakinna (New England) who has lived all over Turtle Island. They're a lecturer in Library Science at UBC and the archivist and historian of the Haslam Collection on Polyamory. Bri is the primary organizer over the summer months.
- Erika (she/they) is a queer, multiracial settler from California. They have practiced ENM for 6ish years and been an organizer for ~3 of those. Ask her about how the communities they’ve been a part of compare w each other! Erika is in the states doing research in June and July this year.
Accessibility Info:
- Alt text for image: photo is unrelated to event; a racially diverse group of femme-presenting people are walking down what appears to be a city street; there is a brownstone rowhouse in the background. the group is talking animatedly and a couple of people are laughing.)
- This is a location that serves alcohol; nonalcoholic options and food are also available.
- There is good navigability and spacing between chairs and tables downstairs for walkers, canes, and wheelchairs.
- Thursday tends to be the quietest day of the week at this bar, but there are occasionally larger groups or events happening at the same time as this event. The space can sometimes get noisy, but should be accessible for hearing loss in the severe-moderate range (one of the hosts uses a hearing aid and a CI).
- Depending on the weather, the number of people and/or how loud it is downstairs we sometimes go to the rooftop patio, which is up a set of ~15 stairs. There is no elevator that we are aware of, but we try to take accessibility needs into account.
