Feb. 28 OlyRope Skillshare

Queer- and neurodivergent-centered rope skillshare in Olympia. Learn, practice, and connect in a low-pressure, consent-forward environment. All experience levels welcome!

What’s New This Time?

Our last jam was so full! which is a lovely problem to have as a budding community, but I don’t want us to be overcrowded.

So, NOTE THIS IMPORTANT CHANGE: You may be TURNED AWAY from the event if you have not RSVPed as GOING or purchased advance tickets!

UPDATE: This event is FULL (as far as RSVPs), and advance tickets can be purchased here 🎉 (If you don't have a Promo Code, please join the Waitlist at that link.)

This first time is a bit of an experiment, so I’ll still allow people who RSVPed as GOING before I posted this to show up and pay cash at the door, but just this time! Expect advance tickets to be required at future events.

Also, Matt will be in town to co-facilitate with me, and the topic of our skillshare/demo is TBD! Please submit your ideas here: OlyRope Feedback Form

Who

This gathering is for anyone 18+ interested in exploring rope or helping build a thoughtful, welcoming rope community in Olympia.

We center queer and neurodivergent experiences and strive to offer a space where those folks feel especially supported.

Cis/het men are welcome as participants, as long as the intention is learning, connecting, and practicing nonsexual rope. This is not a place to cruise or look for partners.

Self-tiers are warmly welcome — many demos will include self-tie options.

Rope is for every body.

What

We’ll start with a short welcome circle and consent & safety reminders, then move into some beginner-friendly demos and exercises, while those with more experience are free to do their own thing. There’s plenty of time for open practice and casual peer-to-peer sharing.

You’ll have space to:

• tie with a partner if you attend with one, or if you find someone you’re mutually excited to practice with

• tie solo as a self-tier

• practice knots, frictions, flow, or concepts

• talk, observe, ask questions, contribute your own knowledge or opinions, or simply be present

No one will be pressured to tie with anyone. You get to choose your level of interaction.

This is a social and educational space, not a play party:

🚫 No nudity

🚫 No sexual activity

🚫 No explicit scenes

Floorwork only (no suspension points).

About Your Host

I’m @ComplexiT on FetLife (T/they/she), a queer, femme-presenting nonbinary rope nerd, bottom-leaning switch, and self-suspender. I discovered rope in October 2024 and immediately had my mind blown 🤯😍🪢 — I wanted to learn everything I could. Since then, I’ve taken private and group lessons, attended workshops and events in Seattle and the Bay Area with my long-distance partner @XTCatalyst (who co-facilitates the group with me when he's in town), and supplemented with online study and independent practice.

I’m building the OlyRope community to create a space that’s safer, kinder, and more accessible for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent rope lovers in the South Sound.

I facilitate in a collaborative, peer-led style, and I demo many techniques as self-ties so folks without partners have concrete, empowering ways to engage with rope. My goal isn’t to be “the authority” on anything — it’s to help cultivate a space where it feels natural and comfortable for all of us to learn from each other.

I’ve adopted the KEMS code of conduct and have nothing to disclose.
