Where do ties come from? What happens when we stop asking?
So much of what we tie is referential: inspired by teachers, scenes, aesthetics, and histories we may or may not know. As rope becomes more professionalized, the pressure to "brand" patterns can obscure where those patterns come from.
This class explores rope as a network, not a lineage. We’ll talk about how ideas move across scenes and generations, how to honor our influences, and why attribution matters. You’ll leave with concrete research strategies for better contextualizing what you're learning (and how to use that context to grow your own creative voice).
📚 You Should Know: This is not a tying class, it’s a class about rope. No need to bring supplies.
💻 You Should Bring: Curiosity, a journal, and a desire to deepen your relationship to the rope world.
🎥 A recording is available for one week after class to all ticket holders. You must buy a ticket via the studio ticketing platform to receive the event link and recording.
