Getting Started Class - Shibari Rope Bondage

The Getting Started Class

New to Shibari? Start Here.

Whether you're curious about rope, craving connection, or building trust with a partner — this is the place to begin.

Getting Started is a fun, focused, and welcoming intro to the art and ethics of Shibari. It’s not about how many knots you know. It’s about building confidence, clarity, and community from the very beginning.

Taught by Dan and Renee, founders of All Tied Up San Diego and educators since 2015, this class is the starting point for all future ATUSD events.

What to Wear

We want you to feel both comfortable and prepared.

🪢 You’ll be sitting during class, then standing and moving during LAB.

Wear clothing that feels good for both events.

Bottoms (those being tied):

• Choose form-fitting clothing (like leggings, tanks, fitted tees)

• Avoid loose or baggy items, they bunch up and interfere with rope

Sports bras are best; avoid anything with underwires

• You are welcome to remove layers during the LAB, as clothing is optional.

Tops (those doing the tying):

• Wear whatever you feel comfortable moving and standing in

• Casual clothing or athletic wear is totally fine

For Everyone:

• Consent is always required

• You may see others choose to be partially unclothed during LAB., This is allowed but never expected
