Hit Me Up: Tie Me Down Ropes 101 - Intro to Rope Tying

The beginning of your rope journey starts with learning a few simple knots!

Hit Me Up: Tie Me Down

Welcome to the world of rope! Salem X will lead you through all you need to know to get started your rope journey. After an in-depth chat about safety considerations and precautions for tying, we will dive into getting all bound up. By the end of the night you will know a proper single column tie, munter hitches, reverse tensions, hojo cuffs, how to add rope, and how to store your rope. You’ll practice improvising your own ties by combining these building blocks. There will be lots of hands-on help to make sure everything clicks and you go home knowing a few new tricks.

There are no prerequisites for this class! You can come with a partner or come alone. Self tying is possible with most of what we will cover. If you have rope, bring 2 hanks and safety shears. There will be rope to share, and some jute rope to purchase for $12 a hank.

About the instructors

Trixie LaPointe: Mistress Trixie LaPointe is a professional rope artist, dominatrix, performer and educator based in NYC. She has been exploring rope since 2018 and has been sharing her knowledge via classes and private lessons since 2021. She has been regularly seen working as a service top or performing at Le Bain at the Standard Hotel, House of Love, House of X, Tempo by Hit Me Up, Femme Fatale, Chemistry and other events around NYC. She is proud proprietor of her own studio space La Maison Privée in Manhattan, where she holds various sessions as well as small classes and events.

Class will be run by Trixie LaPointe with assistance from Salem X and Anya Demure.

Salem X (he/they) is a queer, nonbinary rope switch, educator, and performer based in NYC. They co-founded T4T Jam, a rope jam for trans folks in Brooklyn. A playful sadomasochist, he loves rope that is sadistic, connective, and sometimes silly. His rope practice centers people in marginalized bodies, specifically BIPOC, trans, disabled, and fat folks.

Anya Demure is a rope bondage enthusiast, teacher, and performer with a lot of energy and a lot of hair! She is keen on creating and embodying interesting physical shapes, and delights in enduring physically challenging rope experiences. For her, rope bondage is endurance, sex, exercise, community, movement, art, collaboration, and mutual experience. She is also dedicated to promoting bottom-inclusive education and presentation, and fostering safe, friendly, and encouraging learning environments. She has been fortunate to teach, tie, and be tied in various communities in the US and abroad, but calls Brooklyn home.
