About the Workshop

This is a hands-on, 90-minute workshop + 30 minute mixer is designed for people in nontraditional relationship structures who want to get better at talking about money — and making it work together.In this class, you’ll learn how to start low-stress, values-based conversations about budgeting, even in complex networks of care. We’ll explore your personal money stories, discuss common budgeting challenges in polyamorous, ENM, and other relationship dynamics, and practice tools you can use with your partners, housemates, and chosen family.

You’ll Leave With:

  1. A better understanding of your own financial values
  2. Tools to start money conversations with partners (without spiraling!)
  3. A simple, flexible framework for budgeting with multiple people- Worksheets + reflection prompts to keep the work going at home

Workshop Style:

  1. This is an interactive and discussion-based class — expect guided exercises, breakout conversations, and time for Q&A.

Level:

  1. This class is for everyone! No budgeting experience required.

Who It’s For:

  1. Polyamorous/ENM folks, chosen families, queer kin, and people in shared households. All identities, genders, and experience levels welcome. Anyone who wants to approach money with more clarity, consent, and careLight refreshments provided.

About Your Instructor

Derek Miller (he/him) is a money coach working with people in queer, polyamorous, and other non-traditional relationship structures. He is currently on the Steering Crew for Rad Planners, a collective at the intersection of radical politics and finance. He shares resources with Jade, his feline other significant other.
