Our holiday events will be split between two locations: Cowles Mountain and 4710 Troy Ln, La Mesa, CA 91942. Make sure to read the detailed description below for times and locations!
Every year, near to the northern solstice, Aretéans gather in their communities to celebrate adventure and everything we symbolically associate with the classical element of Air, through the holiday of "Aermera"! It's a day that celebrates being bold, seizing the initiative, and leveling ourselves up! Come join us for great company, great messages, great food, and a great time!
We'll be partying all day! Feel free to get your Aermera holiday started early with us, or just show up for dinner and convocation!
Cowles Mountain
We'll be stepping off from the parkinglot at the base of the trail (Golfcrest) at 0830h sharp, so don't be late, or catch up to us on the trail! We'll have an Aretéan flag with us so we'll be easy to spot. Make sure to bring a water bottle and wear appropriate shoes and sunscreen! Cowles is not a very hard hike, but it is a hike. At the top we'll have sandwiches and snacks to hand out!
Potluck and Convocation
We'll sit down together as a community to share a delicious meal with each other. Great company begets great conversation, and this will be a meal to remember! Please sign up to bring something using our Perfect Potluck link: https://www.perfectpotluck.com/HEVN6653
Convocation is the main event of the day! We'll sing some motivational music and listen to some inspiring messages, and be sworn to adventuring during "The Fragrance of Adventure", which is our annual ritual on this day! If you only attend one thing this day, make it this one!
The cocktail hour, the potluck feast, and convocation will all be held at:
4710 Troy Ln, La Mesa, CA 91942
Parking is usually a little easier to the north of this address, just north of the intersection of Troy and Marie. Walk over the crest of the hill from there, and then up the steep driveway to the house at the top. Look for the Aretéan flag!
Other Aermera Details
We traditionally wear safari style clothing on Aermera! Don't feel obligated to do the same, but if you have good adventuring clothing, that's a good way to look the part!
It's also traditional for us on Understanding Day to salute bold adventurers who have inspired us. Think ahead about who your favorite adventurer is, (whether they're real or fictional, famous or a friend of yours, or a stranger you once encountered) and why they inspire you, so that you can nominate them to be saluted by the whole group!
