Humanist Holiday - BETEOAPO Night!

Every year, near to the autumn cross-quarter day, Aretéans gather in their communities to celebrate our mantra, "Be Excellent to Each Other, and Party On!" This is often abbreviated as "BETEOAPO", and pronounced: "Beh-tee-oh-ah-po". On BETEOAPO Night we double-down on this phrase and go out of our way to find ways to be kind and awesome to other people, and to have the most triumphant parties!

We'll officially dedicate ourselves to the holiday season at 5pm with a special Aretéan "religious" service, called a "convocation". We'll sing some songs and hear some inspiring messages about the holiday, and then immediately afterwards we'll have a kick-ass costume dance party that will go all night!

According to legend (and an awesome series of movies), "The Great Ones" (Bill & Ted) traveled through time, into different dimensions, and even to strange planes of existence, and then brought beings from these wild locales back to modern day Southern California in order to help us gain greater understanding of both them and ourselves! On BETEOAPO Night we dress up as either a historical personage or as any creature from any dimension, who may have conceivably been kidnapped by Bill & Ted in their phone booth to arrive at our party. Superheroes, monsters, anthropomorphic inanimate objects, and more are all welcome to party with us! Please note that both our convocation and the dance party will be outside, so plan to wear a costume that will work in the evening's temperatures!

BETEOAPO Night is effectively "Aretéan Halloween". Dress up in whatever costume feels right to you, and then transport yourself to our wild and raucous dance party! The party will start promptly at 6pm, so DON'T be late! You will miss out! The "Last Hurrah" will be at 11pm, which will bring the party to its culmination- it's going to be radical! Let's go hard, and then go home and bring this energy into the rest of the week!
