A workshop on self-regulation & humming
for folks who are both
Trans/Queer + Neurodiverse
Why Humming?
Life in late-stage capitalism,
techno feudalism is fundamentally
dysregulating. We do our best to
show up well for ourselves, for our
community...and we live within
systems that largely do not value
our internal peace and wellbeing.
Navigating the world as someone
who is neurodiverse and
trans/queer can amplify this
dysregulation: masking, over-
stimulation, rejection sensitivity,
queer/transphobia, internalized
shame...we often feel anxious,
overwhelmed, tense and generally
flooded.
Transmitting vibration through the
body by humming is a powerful
way to regulate the nervous
system and cultivate inner calm.
The fundamentals of this practice
are not new, and have ancient
roots in many, many cultures:
Hindu and Buddhist traditions,
practices among the Yoruba and
Zulu peoples, Shipibo-Conibo
traditions in the ancestral
territories of the Amazon Basin,
European Gregorian monastic
traditions, Nahu practices in what
is also called central Mexico, and
many other Indigenous lineages
around the world. The universal
essence of these vibration/
humming practices speaks to their
depth and potency.
Join other neurodiverse +
trans/queer folks in this evening
workshop where we will...
