Hypnokink Special Topics: Hypnosis Without Trance

HKBA's Special Topics series is a symposium-style class series focused on hypnotic theory, advanced techniques, and the history of hypnosis. Every session starts with a more “classroom” focused hour, followed by exercises designed to deepen your understanding of the techniques and/or theory being examined.

We are elated to welcome guest instructor, Echo!

Overview:

In this class, Echo will survey the foundational principles of James Tripp's Hypnosis Without Trance, a model of hypnosis that shifts the focus from seeking a "trance state" to facilitating cooperative altered experiences through strategic communication. He will examine the core self-perpetuating mechanism—the Hypnotic Loop—and detail principles for managing partner cooperation (buy-in), utilizing feedback, and dynamically testing and escalating hypnotic phenomena. Note that while these principles can be applied in conversational and covert hypnosis, this class will approach the material through a hypnokinky lens (ie, with the assumption that Consent is Mandatory!)

This class is designed for intermediate and advanced hypnokinksters with some understanding of hypnotic theory. Beginners are welcome, but we will not be able to offer extra help to beginners.

What to expect during the class:

Lecture, discussion, a few demos, and one structured practice exercise.

No need to bring your own partner, but great if you do! Practice will happen in groups of three: everyone will have a chance to be hypnotist, hypnotee, and observer. The hosts will be circulating and available to help.

Instructor/Hosts:

Echo (he/they) has been hypnokinky since before they knew what either hypnosis or kink was. Despite this, it’s only been recently that they have ventured into actually learning and practicing erotic hypnosis with others. They’ve been having a blast getting to know other hypnosis enthusiasts, and are delighted to be presenting at a Hypnokink Bay Area event for the first time!

HKBA founders Resonate and Cabel will be present to help out as well.

We are seeking instructors for future Special Topics classes! Your perspectives are what makes our community great. If you’d like to submit a proposal, please message us here or email us at events@hypnokinkbayarea.com.

Cost:

Regular price is $25 per person. No one will be turned away for lack of funds - contact us! If you’d like to offer extra support, $35/45 Supporter/Sponsor tickets are available.
