We warmly invite you to this special introductory event to experience the powerful healing potential of the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM). This event offers a unique opportunity to explore how classical music can facilitate personal growth, emotional healing, and expanded awareness in a supportive group setting.

About This Experience

This 2-hour experience will introduce you to GIM through:

  1. Direct experience of two short supportive GIM experiences
  2. Professional facilitation in a supportive environment
  3. Creative expression through mandala drawing
  4. Group sharing and discussion
  5. Historical context and theoretical background

What to Expect

During this experience, you will:

  1. Participate in two supportive short GIM experiences specially adapted for a group setting
  2. Learn how music can serve as a catalyst for accessing deeper levels of consciousness
  3. Explore imagery that emerges during your musical journey
  4. Express your experience through artistic creation (no artistic skills required)
  5. Gain an understanding of how GIM differs from other therapeutic approaches and how individual GIM session works

No musical background or previous experience with guided imagery is required.

What to Bring

  1. Comfortable clothing
  2. Water bottle
  3. Blanket (optional)
  4. Yoga mat (optional)
  5. Pillow (optional)

All other materials will be provided, including art supplies for mandala creation.

Think of it as a musical journey where carefully chosen classical pieces take you on what I like to call a "psychedelic trip without the psychedelics" - just pure music magic with Sophia as your guide!

When: Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 - from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Please arrive between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m. so we can start at 7. This will be a closed-container event; you won't be able to participate if you arrive after 7:15 p.m.

7:00 pm - Opening Circle and workshop

  1. Welcome and introductions
  2. Discussion of confidentiality and group guidelines
  3. First guided music experience with gentle induction
  4. Sharing of experiences (optional)
  5. A brief presentation on GIM history and methodology
  6. Second guided music experience with mandala creation
  7. Group discussion and questions
  8. Information about further GIM opportunities

9:30 -Closing circle, free flow connection time, wrapping up & goodnight!

Contribution 💰

The San Francisco Community Nights events are not commercial events; this is not a for-profit business. All contributions go to cover the venue rental and support the facilitator.

  1. Free Tickets. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please contact me, and I'll give you a free ticket.
  2. Please come with a ticket. We have a "no ticket, no entry" policy to ensure we have the correct number of people to fit the space.
  3. Last-minute tickets on the event day will start at $40 to encourage early commitment.

About Sophia

Sophia Shu Wang is a board-certified music therapist, life & relationship coach, and a Level II trainee in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. She holds a Master Degree in music therapy from New York University. She has spent the past decade working with individuals and groups in NYC and SF Bay Area. Drawing from her multicultural background and experience with multiple orientations (client-centered, psychodynamic, solution-focused, mindfulness), she creates spaces where people can explore their authentic selves and deepen their connections with others.
