Lief’s Hug Harness: A Hands in Front Harness w/ Lief & Icky

Do you need an alternative to a box tie that may be more sustainable?

The popular hands in front harness seen everywhere online is now being brought to South Bay by its original creator!

Lief & Icky developed a load bearing, suspendable arms in front chest harness that is useful for those who want the structure of a box tie but have chronic shoulder or wrist issues with arms behind positioning! This harness can be loaded from the front, back, or side and will be taught with adaptations to fit multiple body types.

In this class, we will go over...

  1. Safety and risk management for tying & being in the hug harness
  2. Step by step instruction on how to tie this harness
  3. Adaptation of the harness to fit multiple body types
  4. [Optional] Practice loading the harness in a partial suspension

This harness is perfect for someone who wants to expand their repertoire or needs an alternative to a more traditional harness. At the end of this class you will have a new skill in your pocket to take with you on your rope journey!

There are TWO ticket types

  1. Double Trouble on the Ground: Ticket for a tying pair that wants to learn & explore the hug harness pattern in floor work!
  2. Double Trouble (Hardpoint for Partial): Ticket for a tying pair that wants to learn the harness and reserved a hardpoint for the optional partial suspension exercise!

Common Q&A

Do I need to bring my own rope?

We have loaner ropes if you don't have your own ropes yet. However, it is strongly advised to bring your own.

If you wish to participate in the partial suspension, you must have your own rope and suspension gears.

Do I need a tying partner?

Yes. You will need a tying partner to practice with. If you are a switch, pair up with your switch-y friends! You learn the most if you could experience both sides!

What should I wear?

For Riggers: Anything you feel the most comfortable in. You will feel

warmer than your bottom, so don't put too many layers on!

For bottoms: Tighter clothes are the best. For example tank tops and yoga pants. If you wear bras, please remember to take them off or wear wireless bras for upper body ties.

Will I be able to learn to suspend someone?

This workshop will be pattern & groundwork focused. If you purchase the "opt-in partial practice" ticket, you will have a hardpoint to practice loading the harness in a partial suspension during the practice hour.
