Jan 27 ✨ Mihyun Lee: Relationship & Movement [Forest Love EB]

The purpose of this workshop is to identify the psychological implications of relationship patterns through Contact Improvisation practice. Participants explore the interconnectedness between interpersonal relationship patterns and Contact Improvisation practice. The materials are based on Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis (LBMA).

Participants will:

  • learn movement qualities and patterns
  • explore their relationship patterns and dynamics
  • have a chance to consult relationship challenges with the group to explore different patterns in the dynamic that may serve the relationship better

Mihyun Lee studied Korean Dance, Counseling Psychology, and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis. For about 30 years of practicing dance professionally shaped her understanding of the primal nature of the body and its expression.

Under the theme of Polarity and Integration, she supports people to integrate various lived experiences through polarities such as past and future, implicit memory and explicit memory, felt sense and logical sense, etc.

As a Somatic Movement Therapist, she serves individuals, couples, and groups both in San Francisco and Seoul, South Korea. She facilitates 6 sessions of bi-weekly Somatic Movement Group Therapy called "Relationship and Movement" starting on 2/5/2025. As a Mental Health Clinician, she serves 0-5 years old clients with their families at a community based organization in Alameda County.
