Welcome to the Non-Monogamy Discussion Group Vancouver! We will be meeting the THIRD Monday of the month at Cross and Crows Books . Bring your ideas, questions and opinions!
April Topic: Monogamous/Non-monogamous Partnerships (Monopoly!)
What happens when one person wants monogamy and the other doesn’t? Mono/polyam relationships sit right at that intersection.
For some, this dynamic feels like a natural fit. For others, it can bring up tension, mismatched expectations, or questions around fairness, autonomy, and fulfillment. There’s no single way to navigate it, and no guaranteed roadmap.
This month, we’re focusing on the lived monogamous and Non-monogamous relationships: whether you’re in one, have been in one, are considering it or are partnered with someone who is in one.
Some questions we may explore:
-What draws people to mono/polyam dynamics, and what makes them work (or not)?
-How can partners navigate this structure?
-How can jealousy, compersion, or imbalance show up in these relationships?
-What is it like to date someone who is in a mono/non-mono relationship?
-What’s the difference between being monogamous and being polyamorous but currently only dating one person? How do intention, identity, and agreement shape that distinction?
This is a peer to peer discussion to dive into the good, the challenging, and everything in between without assuming one model is “better” than another.
