Welcome to the Non-Monogamy Discussion Group Vancouver! We will be meeting the THIRD Monday of the month at Cross and Crows Books . Bring your ideas, questions and opinions!
March Topic: Children, Parenting & Family Planning in Non-Monogamous Lives
Non-monogamy can open up expansive ways of loving and relating and it can also raise complex questions when children, co-parenting, and future family planning are part of the picture.
Some people are actively parenting. Some are considering it. Some are navigating dating as parents, blending families, or building multi-adult caregiving structures. Others are clear that they don’t want children but being non-monogamous may mean you are dating people who do have kids and how that shapes your relationships and choices.
This month, we’ll explore how non-monogamy and family life intersect in real, practical, and emotional ways.
Some questions we may explore:
- How do we talk to children about non-monogamy and when?
- What does co-parenting look like in multi-partner dynamics?
- How do we navigate boundaries between partners and kids?
- What legal, logistical, or social challenges come up?
- How do we date or build relationships while parenting?
-How does being childfree -by choice or circumstance - shape who we choose to date?
This discussion is an invitation to reflect on care, responsibility, autonomy, community, consent, and the many ways people build or choose not to build families within non-monogamous lives.
