A wholesome gathering for unwholesome people in support of LA's improved subway line.
---------------
You've heard it, you've seen it. Maybe you've even felt it.
The D is extending, penetrating LAs busiest streets and coming to some of its hottest attractions.
Its been hard, its been rough, but on May 9th the D is finally here to take us for a ride.
Will you answer the call?
---------------
This cross-posted (Fetlife and Plura) gathering will be part social, part vanilla-event as we ride the newly extended D Line subway along Wilshire blvd to celebrate transit expansion, appreciate the newest stations in West LA, and explore some of the attractions accessible along these lines.
Information about this extension can be found on LA Metro's site.
We will aim to gather at the same station to get on the subway together, then the train number and car will be shared so that others can join late if needed. Remember, the subways doesn't wait: if you are late you will miss the group.
As we get closer to the event I will poll for which station we want to start at, and which destinations we want to see. There are numerous museums along the route as well as restaurants and picnic grounds. The western terminus is at Wilshire and La Cienega and the eastern terminus is at Union Station
The total transit time of the D Line is estimated at <21-25 minutes, the duration of this event is to allow for time at attractions and/or to ride it multiple times.
Remember that a subway car takeover, while fun, is highly unlikely: keep your behavior civil and appropriate, keep your D to yourself, and as Metro says "If you see something, say something". We will likely share space with children, commuters, and other non-consenting parties.

LA Metro fare is $1.75 one way with free transfers, transit cards cap off at $5 daily
