Poly Parenting Picnic – Northeast LA
Building the village, one playground at a time.
This picnic is for non-monogamous folks exploring alternative parenting and non-traditional family structures—or anyone dreaming of building a proverbial village with like-minded people. Parents, prospective parents, kids, and the many kinds of people in your life are all welcome: paramours, metamours, friends, frenemies, crushes, exes… even leashed dogs.
Who is this for?
“Alternative parenting” is a broad umbrella. Here are just a few examples of people who might find this space nourishing:
- Communal Living Parents: You're interested in co-living with other families or forming an intentional community.
- Poly Parents: You're romantically involved with one or more parents and are co-parenting or building bonds with their kids.
- Platonic Parents: You're parenting (or planning to) with someone you’re not romantically involved with—or you've shifted a romantic relationship into a co-parenting one.
- Alternative Pathways to Parenting: You’re considering or navigating adoption, fostering, IVF, sperm/egg donation, or other non-traditional fertility paths.
- Curious & Questioning: You're exploring family structures beyond the nuclear norm—even if you’re not sure where you land yet.
If you resonate with any of this (or think you might), you’re welcome.
Logistics:
Arroyo Park
614 Stoney Dr.
South Pasadena, Ca 91030
We plan on setting up between the gazebos and playground.
- Playground: Yes, we’ve got one.
- Restrooms: Near the playground.
- Parking: Lot near the baseball field + street parking nearby.
- Shade: Decent (for LA), but bring sunscreen, hats, or umbrellas if you're sun-sensitive.
The vibe:
- Start/end times are fuzzy—because children.
- Ignoring each other is totally fine—because children.
- Leaving without saying goodbye is also fine—because children.
This event was lovingly inspired (with permission) by the Poly Alt Parenting crew in the Bay Area.
