Praxis Makes Perfect: Social Justice Talk + Screening

Films, presentations, discussions, and exercises for participants to increase their knowledge and awareness of social issues.

We welcome you to join us on Thursday August 10th, with doors at 7, introduction to begin promptly after 7:30p, with a brief discussion after the screening. The inaugural meeting will explore the topic of Policing in America. There will be an introductory lecture to situate the history of policing which will be followed by the screening of the feature documentary film, “13th,” in-depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation's history of racial inequality. After the film we will open the floor for questions and comments for another 15-20 minutes.

This will be a recurring monthly event. We will be alternating between film screenings and facilitated presentations on pertinent social and political topics. We are interested in connecting with possible guest facilitators and presenters for future events. Please contact us at www.ashbyarts.org

Our next edition will take place on Thursday September 7, with a topic TBD.

We suggest participants make a $5-15 donation to the lecturer and the space if possible. NOTAFLOF.
