About the Class

There is a lot contained within the umbrella of edge-play from act-based play like breath-play, to ideological conditions like CNC, to emotional play and dynamics that have darker tones but all of that is facilitated by a strong foundation of communication. This class is designed to provide adaptable, practical solutions and processes to better your communication when engaging in play that challenges the conventional norms of safety, sanity or boundaries so you can be safer, more satisfied and more thoughtful. You can expect to learn:

1. Figuring out what and then why something qualifies as edge-play for you.
2. Risk-profiling that is specific to your edgier desires and the particulars of being you.
3. Redefining Language: Navigating the lack of reliability on in-scene communication.
4. Negotiating scenes and negotiating dynamics with consistent edge-play.
5. Emotional and communication skills that support edge-play and how to develop them.
6. Commonly-made communication and practical mistakes in edge-play.
7. Honing and supporting urges that are reckless, destructive, fucked-up, impulsive and want to be that way, while ensuring minimal danger and informed consent for all parties.
8. The art of the debrief: How post-scene discussions can be optimized to support comprehension and safety.
9. Ethics: Why does it feel wrong when nothing is reckless or unsafe?
10. Emotional, physical and mental safeguarding.

About the Instructor

Ancilla L is an Indian author, kink-educator, erotic writer and podcaster. She runs Ancillary Kink Support (AKS), which is a queer, woman and bottom-led platform for kink-and-fetish education that centres individualism, creativity and depth. As a long-time practitioner of the edgier side of fetish and allied-dynamics, she focuses on creating practical, accessible and thoughtful spaces for things like CNC, ESM, sharps, and psychosexual play. She has written nine books on fetish—erotic and educational—including three titles under The Sextbook Initiative, a project aimed at providing clear, adaptable frameworks for specific kinks or dynamics. The available titles are The Power-Exchange Sextbook, The Masochism Sextbook and The CNC Sextbook.
