Transcending Shame for Kinksters

Presented by Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti!

Do you experience guilt, shame, and feelings of inferiority around your kinks, sexuality/sexual expression, gender identity, and/or race? Do you constantly compare yourself to others? Do you see yourself as defective?

For many kinksters, shame doesn’t just come from within, but is layered by societal judgment, internalized stigma, and past experiences. Shame can be a powerful force—one that isolates, silences, and distorts our sense of self.

Through "Transcending Shame for Kinksters," you will begin to unpack how shame operates in your lives, especially around desire, identity, and kink. Through discussion, reflection, and community support, the participants will explore tools to transform shame into self-acceptance and resilience.

This workshop is open to all kink-positive individuals.

About the Instructor

Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti (she/her/hers) has been a panelist, frequent podcast guest, and workshop presenter since 2017, beginning with the very first workshop she ever created, "Transcending Shame." And even though she's mostly a presenter, that DOES NOT keep her from learning. For example, when she began researching the topic of shame, before teaching about it for the first time, she learned that shame lives in secrecy.

Gloria is also a breast cancer survivor, whose 2013 diagnosis provided the catalyst for her to come out as bisexual, sex-positive, and polyamorous (because that was when she realized just how short life is). She is autistic with ADHD/ADD, PTSD, depression/anxiety, mobility challenges, and TBI. Gloria is also a member of the Center for Sex Positive Culture (CSPC) in Seattle, WA, where she serves as a board member, and co-host for both their Neurodivergent and Nonmonogamy Discussion Groups.

Gloria is currently hard at work on her memoir entitled, "A Different Drum: A Black, Autistic, Polyamorous, Mentally Ill, Former Fundamentalist Christian/Cult Member and Breast Cancer Survivor WHO JUST WANTS TO FIT IN." She lives in Seattle, WA.
