Pretty Mean Things: Floor Rope for Sensation & Aesthetics with Shay and Angel

VoxBody is always thrilled to welcome Shay and Angel for their high energy, silly and sadistic style of tying!

Rope can create specific moods and visual effects by highlighting or distorting the body, eliciting sensations ranging from comforting compression to viscous bite.

This class will teach a variety of straightforward, flexible patterns designed to facilitate connection and creativity. Whether your style leans sweet, seductive, or sadistic, you’ll leave with new ways to make your rope both pretty and mean.

Ties may include a quick-release column tie, bunny ears variation, face rope, body harness, and a bent leg tie, as well as exercises focused on tension, rope handling, and aesthetic intention.

Pre-requisites: This is an advanced beginner to intermediate floorwork class. Attendees should be comfortable tying single-column ties and bondage negotiation/risk awareness basics, and have the body awareness and communication skills to participate at a level that is safe(r) for them.

TICKETS ARE SOLD PER PERSON. The focus of this class is partnered tying, but self-tie variations will be offered. Instructors will not pair people up, so please come with a partner or plan to self-tie! Every attending human needs a ticket regardless of rope role.

Doors open at 7:30pm // class starts at 7:45pm // doors closed and no late entry 8pm.

Supplies: At least one piece of ~30' rope; one piece of ~15' rope recommended. Hemp or jute preferred. Cutting tool. VoxBody has loaner rope available for use during class.

About the presenters:

Shay Tiziano (she/her or they/them) is a renowned bondage performer, presenter, producer, and self-suspender known for their innovative performances and friendly, attainable, and risk-awareness-focused approach to kink education. Her teaching style is playfully nerdy, packed with evidence-based tidbits and study references, while balancing scientific rigor with humor and not taking herself (too) seriously. She is the author of Tying & Flying, the first-ever book about self-suspension, Creating Captivating Classes, the first-ever book specifically for kink educators, and editor of the anthology Soaring & Exploring: Self-Suspension for Experienced Tiers & Flyers.

Based in San Francisco, Shay is the stages & entertainment lead for the Folsom Street Fair and produces the acclaimed bondage and fetish performance event Twisted Windows. She has performed and curated showcases for events including San Francisco Pride, Seattle Erotic Art Festival, Tethered Together, Ropecraft, the SF Mint, and Dark Odyssey.

Angel (he/him) is a self-suspender and rope switch who brings an extensive background in sailing, physics, and general creative shenanigans to his bondage practices. He finds immense joy in the meticulous process of choreography and rehearsal, exhibiting a fervent enthusiasm for revisiting specific bottoming sequences repeatedly and practicing to a level that most folks would find somewhat unhinged. He is a durable human who loves to experiment, push boundaries, and redefine what Western-style rope can be.
