Progressive FloorPlay with hua hua

Join us for this daylong class exploring floor play, Ipponnawa and partial suspension with hua hua (Shanghai/London). Find all her VoxBody event offerings on the calendar here OCT 11-19.

About the class:

The floor offers a greater range of possibilities that can arise when not limited by the restrictions of suspension. Playing on the floor allows us to make each rope added, each change of position and each decision based on the communication between top and bottom. In this sense, floor play allows us to tie from the heart and not only from the head.

This workshop will give an introduction to hua hua’s approach to floor play including how to build a scene, tie by following the reactions of the model and create progression where by the bottom is gradually subdued. Beginning with Ipponnawa (one rope play) to explore the smallest of details, hua hua will then show how an upline can be used in Ipponnawa. Following this we will explore a progressive sequence using only the weight of the floor and body handling. Finally we will end the day looking at how the use of uplines continue this sense of progression with partial suspensions. As this workshop is designed to be progressive and focuses heavily on headspace, switching is not permitted.

Pre-requisites:

* Riggers should have basic knowledge of single column tie, double column tie, basic frictions and upline lock offs.

* Bottoms should be aware of the risks involved in Shibari and be able to identify between a nerve and blood numbing sensation.

* Both should be prepared to explore non-verbal communication in the exercises and have clear understanding of how to negotiate a scene.

Materials needed:

* 5-8 long ropes, and a half length rope. Suspension uplines.

* Every tying pair will have a bamboo suspension point to tie on.
