Our community of lgbtq+ vendors are all trying something new this month! Come help queer artists expand our businesses and presnt new skills
What is FRESH STARTS? Its a market for vendors to try something new and customers to see new sides of your fav local lgbtq small-business owners. Join us at @place.community gardens (1121 64th St, Oakland) from 1–5PM for a day full of queer joy, creativity, and community magic
This is a HIGHLY THEMED market where we're pushing seasoned vendors to present something new to the world! As artists also trying to profit from our work we can get stuck in what has worked before or what we've become known for in our small business. But in order to truly thrive we have to be able to follow our creative shifts and mutate with the times.
This is a call for vendors to do something you've never done before. And for customers to come support queer artists in the shifts and changes we've been wanting to step into but haven't had the confidence to yet.
This is what some of our artists will be experimenting with:
- i vend chainmaille and i will be selling that, but ive also been experimenting with multi media photo collages! i’d love to sell the few i have and see if people are into it :)
-I will be selling handmade charm necklaces and other accessories for the first time! I was actually inspired by the market yesterday (5/10) and thought I should create something unique and interesting, so this is perfect!
-bringing a friend with spray paint on canvases / space themed art !
- I’ll be doing henna !!!
-i sell vintage clothing but have been doing a ton of upcycling lately so I’ll be selling a ton of new 1 of 1 pieces
-I’ll be vending canvas paintings and some other painted pieces including pottery and funky upcycled home decorI create handmade products such as ashtrays, trays, keychains, candles, wax melts, perfume, hand sanitizers and more
-I typically have my gobbos, 3D printed fidgets, and some textile wears such as critter hoodies and hoods. I want to still bring the gobbos but will be doing leatherwork as well, bringing jewelry, artwork, and some sculpture made with leather scrap
-affirmation cards, art zines (i usually do info zines)apparel, crocheted items, stickers -
-i’ll be selling screen-printed shirts and tank tops for the first time, as well as new crocheted products, and my sibling/business partner will create some original designs available as prints and stickers.
-Prints and original paintings, I've never made prints before and I usually sell homemade pain relief salves
Whether the fresh start is big or small this is our artists chance to experiment and your chance to come support your favorite vendors in totally new endeavors. This will be Quartz like you've never seen it before. So taste a new flavor of the rainbow with us May 24th!
