This Red Cross-certified CPR and First Aid training provides essential life-saving skills for dungeon monitors, educators, hosts, and community leaders. It focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development, and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. While not rope-specific, these skills are a critical layer of care for any environment where physical risk is present.
We will also teach proper AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. This life-saving device can increase a patient's chance of survival from a cardiac arrest by fifty percent. During this class, you'll learn how to deploy and use an AED in an emergency situation.
The class participants will also learn how to recognize and respond appropriately to basic first aid emergencies. It teaches skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
Participants will receive:
• Adult CPR & First Aid certification
• AED (defibrillator) training
• Guidance on responding calmly and effectively in medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest, sudden illness and injuries, and environmental emergencies.
• A one-hour rental credit at Stella Obscura, a local dungeon space, to support continued practice and community engagement.
NB: this training involves completing virtual modules prior to the in-person workshop. All attendees will receive instructions for completing this pre-work via email.
This training pairs as a part of a package with Dungeon Monitoring for Rope Scenes, but may be taken on its own.
