Role-Playing or Role-Being: Identity, Exploration, and Mental Health

Role-Playing or Role-Being: Identity, Exploration, and Mental Health - Saturday May 16th

For some people role-playing is a chance for non-serious fun and delight, while for others what looks like role-playing is anything but. For many on diverse mental health journeys, these practices can become supportive tools: a depressed mind trying on confidence, a dissociative system choosing who fronts in a negotiated space, or an anxious heart finding calm in clear roles and protective structure. In this class, we’ll explore how roles and personas can help us thrive in kink and play contexts while honoring the truth that past trauma, triggers, and unspoken struggles can shape these experiences. Together we will name the differences between playing a part and revealing a piece of ourselves, learn how to enter and exit these headspaces with intention, and gather strategies for when scenes drift sideways. Along the way, we’ll weave in approaches to aftercare, grounding, and connection so that these journeys - whether playful or profound - are held with care.
