We are so excited for this Friday evening advanced suspension class with Bondage Otter and Jay Campo!
Tying Men* with Purpose
In this class, BondageOtter offers his thoughts and experiences on tying the masculine form.
We’ll explore imagery from Kitan Club, Bound and Gagged, Bara literature, and cowboy bondage to consider common kinbaku shapes through a butch aesthetic.
We’ll also cover practical adjustments for tying larger or more muscular bodies.
We’ll then examine our purposes for doing suspension, and investigate how to make them compelling beyond shape alone through incorporating texture and tension for greater impact. The hogtie and its variations will serve as a foundation for exploration and storytelling.
*Bondage Otter will be speaking from his personal experiences, mostly tying men and masc-nonbinary folks, but the workshop is open to everyone.
Every tying pair will be using a bamboo point for their tie.
Prerequisites: This is an advanced suspension class. Confidence and competence with full-suspension required, from both sides of the rope. Familiarty with tying and locking off on bamboo is required. Tying a boxtie is not necessary for the class; attendees can plan to use any backloaded chest harness.
If finances are a barrier for you to attend this class, please email us at voxbody@gmail.com. We have a scholarship observer spot available.
About the presenters:
BondageOtter (he/they) is a queer leatherman and rope switch who maintains a private S/M practice while organizing public education and play programs for the community of people who want to tie masc-of-center bodies. Most notably, he is the founder of Rope Burn SF, the USA’s first ongoing masc-of-center, rope-specific play party + skill share, with his remaining energy spent volunteering for numerous gay organizations.
His education seeks to fuse Japanese aesthetics with the erotics of gay leather culture, and he is particularly devoted to adapting Eastern aesthetic principles to the tying of larger bodies, honoring the history and feel of Japanese tying while opening it up to the erotic scenarios of the leather bar. He enjoys sharing his style of play with others, aiming for scenes to be both hot and hurty, where the progressive restriction of freedom encourages creative forms of expression for both top and bottom.

Jay Campo (he/him) is a gay leatherman and rope bottom who practices a broad range of kink and is an active volunteer and advocate for the gay and queer community. He was a member of the board for the San Francisco Fog, one of the first gay rugby teams organized in the United States, and he volunteers for Rope Burn SF, helping facilitate masc-of-center rope play and skill share workshops with a focus on specialized skills for tying larger and male bodies.
Jay’s stance toward rope as a committed and skilled bottom is sensation-seeking, contemplative, and bodily conscious. Coming from a background in performance and dance, he enjoys exploring the frontiers of his flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in a context of masculine eroticism and domination, and thrives on the experience of converting the pain and stress of difficult ties into subtle and complex bodily expressions. He specializes in endurance through seme-nawa and is continually seeking new male-identifying dance partners who are unafraid to push his boundaries and experiment with their skills.
