About Niuka Tea:
Steeping professionally since 2008, at the inception of "Om Shan Tea" in San Francisco's Mission District, founder Alexander Friend is a pioneer of resurgent tea culture in the Bay Area.
He is an herbalist and creator of all NIUKA's original botanical tea formulas, designing each blend with organic, fair-trade herbs that work together to nourish the body while featuring outstanding flavor profiles as complex, refined and delectable as well-crafted wine.
Many of his herbal tea blends showcase "adaptogenic" herbs that work together to promote natural homeostasis - balance - in the body. These blends pair beautifully with heirloom, single-origin Camellia teas, which are handpicked on small, organic and biodynamic farms in China, where the crafts of cultivating and processing the finest teas in the world is a multi-generational legacy.
It is Alexander's mission to provide humanitarian aid for the modern world in the form of tea and its ancient, deeply human ceremony that is adaptable to any walk of life. That we may reclaim our ability to be present and strive to embody this sentiment of his favorite quote:
"The most important thing is to enjoy your life, without being fooled by things." Shunryu Suzuki, Japanese Zen priest and founder of the San Francisco Zen Center
