Saga: The Mystery of Darkwood Manor

Saga is AfterDark’s party for kinksters who love costumes, cosplay, LARPing, gaming, and fantasy adventures! Each edition of Saga explores new realms — mystical lands, distant times, and fantastic worlds — where you can live out your hottest kinks. Every iteration of Saga will have a new theme, and over time we may revisit your favorites.

For this chapter, the theme is The Mystery of Darkwood Manor — a sword-and-sorcery adventure! Stopgap will be decorated to immerse you in the story, creating a space where you can explore, connect, and play in a lush, fantasy setting. We’ll also be offering an incredible spread of snacks as you mingle, learn, and dive into the adventure.

We'll once again feature mini live-action role-playing games throughout the night! These short, beginner-friendly scenarios are designed for small groups and will run multiple times so everyone has a chance to play. Combat games will use "lightest touch" rules. If you’re new to LARPing, this is a perfect introduction.

Deep within the mist-covered woods, an ancient power waits — guarded by shadows, cursed in blood. Warriors, witches, heroes and villains now race to claim it. Weapons will clash, magic will cast and ward, while Darkwood Manor protects its secret Will you uncover it or be lost to the forest forever?

Saga Bingo

At the Saga Party, break the ice and spark new connections with Saga Bingo, a playful twist on the classic game! As you mingle, find guests who match the prompts on your bingo card, like "has a battle scar" to "or “can name three ancient heroes." Complete a line and you'll be entered to win a prize! It's a fun, low-pressure way to meet fellow adventurers, swap stories, and start your night with laughter and discovery.

Costume Contest

We will have prizes for the best mage, best monster, and best warrior! More details coming soon.

Saga Details:

1. Date & Time: Saturday, May 24, 8:00 PM - 1:00 AM
2. Location: Stopgap, San Francisco, CA (the exact venue address will be sent to ticket holders only for privacy and safety reasons, but it is in SoMa). For planning purposes, it is a 10 minute walk from the UN Plaza/Civic Center BART station.

COVID-19 Safety Measures:

1. All guests MUST take a rapid test on the day of the event, before arriving, and write the date on the test or immediately next to the test
2. Take a photo of the negative test & show it to the door guard when you arrive.
3. We will have a limited number of tests for sale at $25 each in case anyone is unable to pretest

Accessibility Notes

The entrance to the space is on the ground floor, which includes lockers (bring your own lock or purchase one at the front desk), social areas, and two bathrooms. There are no steps on the ground floor. The bathrooms are each single stall with grab bars on the wall and toilets mounted to the floor. The basement of the venue contains play areas and can only be reached via stairs. There will be music playing throughout the night, and ear plugs are available for free at the front desk. There are colored lights in use throughout the venue, including rotating “party lights” for ambiance. Cell phones are prohibited from being used in the venue and must be stored; however, you may speak to a host about reasonable accommodations if needed for things such as continuous glucose monitoring. Dress Code:

Dressing to the theme is strongly encouraged in order to help maintain the immersive ambiance of the night. We will have prizes for the best mage, best monster, and best warrior!

In general what makes you feel sexy, confident, ready to take on the world?

1. Fantasy costumes?
2. Chainmail and metal?
3. General dungeon wear?
4. Leather or rubber fetishwear?
5. Skimpy lingerie that leaves little to the imagination?

Whatever it is, we encourage you to dress up at least a little. Make an effort to impress, but if nothing else comes to mind then dress as you would for a fancy night out. Just be mindful that you might have to wait in line outside when you arrive and that you are welcome to arrive in regular clothes and then change into your kinky outfit once you get inside.

Tickets:

Ticket prices are tiered as follows. Each tier has a fixed number of tickets.

1. Tier 1 - $40 (Early bird)
2. Tier 2 - $50
3. Tier 3 - $60
4. Tier 4 - $75
5. Financial Access (while available): $25

All tiers will have tickets available until the tier sells out. Lower tiers will sell out fairly quickly so we recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible!

The Venue

This event will be held at Stopgap in San Francisco. While a new venue in its current iteration, the building itself has a rich history in the kink community. The first floor has social spaces, lockers (bring your own lock or purchase a lock at the front desk), and two bathrooms. Descend into the 3100 square foot basement to enjoy historic equipment that many in the community may have enjoyed in days gone by plus some newer pieces from our collection. There will be crosses, benches, tables, bondage chairs, cages, and much more! Stopgap is not only located in an important place of kink history, it's a place of history in the making right now..
