Safety Third: Evaluating Risk for Negotiation

This class is designed to discuss the pitfalls of binary thinking in terms of safe/unsafe and to promote thinking in terms of risk, mitigation, and awareness. Further, we will focus on how evaluating play through a lens of risk can improve negotiations.

The class includes a discussion of the safe/unsafe binary, a discussion of risk, its mathematical roots in the finance world, how risk and kink are intertwined, and how to leverage these ideas to make your play hotter, your negotiations better, and hopefully reduce bad outcomes from play.

About the Presenters:

@HedonisticUrge is a dominant with two decades of experience in the scene. His primary interest is in D/s dynamics involving control via humiliation, degradation, objectification, and suffering. He uses a style of dominance that is masculine, nurturing, and involves positive reinforcement. He loves doing fucked-up shit with fucked-up people, especially with his boi, Dash. He's a founder of Ram's Head, a leather family and house in Oregon. He enjoys helping others on their own journey.

@DashOfRope (they/them) is a queer, neurodivergent, polyam, sadomasochistic, sassy Leatherboi that plays predominantly on the right side of the slash. Their knowledge extends from a decade’s worth of experience bottoming. They enjoy playing along the dark edges in kink, especially with their Owner, HedonisticUrge. Dash is passionate about bottoming education in the areas of edge play, consent, rope, and everything else.

What is the Salem Munch?

We are located in the banquet room of Southside Speakeasy! Doors at 6 PM, class starts promptly at 7. Come early for a nosh & some conversation!

We are a sex-positive & kink-centric group of folx who meet bi-monthly over our love of authentic, healthy sexuality while building connections in our community! We are a queer, trans/gender non-conforming, & BIPOC-friendly munch. The Tuesday Munch meets every second Tuesday; the Saturday Munch meets every third Saturday. The space is stair-free with plentiful parking.

The Salem Munch also offers a library of sex-positive & kink-centric books available for community members to borrow.
