SQUEEZE: Femme Rope Social & Jam by AfterDark

SQUEEZE is open exclusively to femme folk.

Hosted by IguanaBonds, Kelpnoodles, Rizz, and Bugbight

Welcome to our second month of Squeeze! By popular demand, this month we will focus on building blocks for connection: we will start with a skill share where we will teach a simple exercise that folks of all experience levels can use to explore connection, then we will have a facilitated Rope Speed Friending exercise where you can use this exercise right away to meet and connect with each other, and finally we will close out with a group discussion and debrief.

Using your own rope, or our available loaner rope, attendees will be shown how to create a non-collapsing single column tie called the Somerville Bowline and how to use that as a basis for a common connective rope exercise that uses wrapping, basic frictions, and tension to emphasize the sensory experience and connection with your partner, rather than complex patterns.

Folks will then be organized into two concentric circles and spend a few minutes tying together before time is called and one circle rotates so that new tying pairs are formed. The number of attendees will dictate how many times we switch/rotate and how many folks you’ll ultimately tie with.

We do ask that everyone planning to be a part of the speed friending exercise come prepared to both tie and be tied in order to facilitate this as a learning and social environment. However, no experience is necessary to tie. This is beginner friendly and we will teach you what you need to know :) We will have loaner rope on hand for you to use!

As always, those not interested in the skillshare/lab portion will be able to utilize the open tying space downstairs.

Doors are open during the social hour, from 6:30 PM to 7:30. Play space opens at 7:30pm. Doors close at 8:30, no late entry.

About SQUEEZE

SQUEEZE is a rope jam and social for femme-identifying individuals to share space, mingle, tie, and embrace the femme identity as a community. We center femmes of all sorts in a non-sexual environment away from the male gaze.

Who is SQUEEZE for?

SQUEEZE is by femmes, for femmes. You are welcome at SQUEEZE if you identify as femme in any way. We center and embrace femme identities in all forms, regardless of presentation or sexuality.

While SQUEEZE is a rope jam and has open tying time, our focus on socializing and community means that we also encourage femmes who just want to be in an all-femme environment to attend, even without an intent to tie. Please note that sexual play and forms of play that are not centered in rope are not welcome at this event.

What is the structure of a SQUEEZE jam?

At Squeeze, we prioritize the community and social aspect of our identities and rope, not just the tying. We begin each Squeeze with a social hour where everyone can chat, have a snack, and meet other attendees. From there, we will have an optional opening circle to go over event rules and intention-setting, followed by a facilitated discussion or beginner-friendly skillshare and open tying space.

Our typical schedule:

  • 6:30-7:30 Doors open; social hour. No play allowed during this time.
  • 7:30-8:30 (Optional) Opening Circle; Discussion or Skillshare. Doors close at 8:30.
  • 7:30-10 Open tying time; open socializing time.

Doors are open during the social hour, from 6:30 PM to 7:30. Play space opens at 7:30pm. Doors close at 8:30pm.

Venue & Accessibility

This event will be held at Stopgap in San Francisco. The address will be provided to ticket holders for privacy and safety reasons. For planning purposes, it is in SOMA and a 10 minute walk from the UN Plaza/Civic Center BART station.

Stopgap is a historic space in the SF kink community, near 9th and Mission, transformed by club lighting and an ambient music backdrop, this event promises an atmosphere where you can relax, learn, and play freely. The venue consists of a ground floor and basement; the basement is only accessible via stairs and has ample space and mats for floor ties and at least 14 hardpoints for those ready to practice suspension bondage.

The ground floor is accessible with two accessible bathrooms, lockers, and a social space. The social hour, opening circle, and discussion/skillshare will be hosted on the ground floor, and mats will be made available there for floor ties. A suspension rig can be set up on the ground floor for those with mobility needs by advance request. Please reach out by email to info@afterdark-events.com.

About the Hosts

@IguanaBonds (she/her) is a rope switch who supports SQUEEZE through volunteering while constantly building her skills as a top and bottom, laughing through suffering ties, and fangirling over fat people in rope. She identifies as equal part lizard sprawled on a rock in the sun and Team Mom. She’s been studying rope since early 2023 and is also a host of Wrapt, another AfterDark rope jam held on fourth Mondays.

@kelpnoodles (she/her) is a queer rope switch and self-suspender with a fondness for the bite of rope and the trouble it gets her into. She’s a masochist at heart and likes exploring intensity, vulnerability, and the occasional test of endurance in her play. When she’s not in rope, she’s probably getting tattooed or co-hosting Praxium’s monthly Sharps Jam.

@Rizz (she/they) is a switchy rope brat, though you’d be forgiven for thinking she’s a bottom. She started her journey with rope mid-2023 and has been serving as the Society of Janus Social Activities director since early 2024. Beyond SQUEEZE, you can find her hosting Ignite at Stopgap every second Saturday and helping out with a variety of other events.

@bugbight (they/them) began their relationship with rope in 2022, but it was not love at first tie. These days, they’re a rope switch with a consuming infatuation for suffering, all things rope, and playful torment. They hope to offer resources they wish they’d had when starting out, and to foster our queer community. Outside of kink, they’re a crafty, planty gremlin with a soft spot for cats.
