Learn and practice the art of shaving with a straight razor

Class Description:

Ever wanted to learn how to shave like a professional barber? This class is your chance! Done properly, straight razor shaving can offer a closer, smoother shave than modern conventional cartridge razors, with fewer ingrown hairs and a milder effect on the skin, all while being a more economical choice. Plus - it can be sexy as hell! If you've ever been curious to experience the sensuality and intimacy of shaving a partner, or if you just want to learn a new skill, Daddy Wendell has you covered. Join us for an educational and practical workshop and skill-share on the fine art of straight razor shaving.

This will be a hands-on skillshare for people who want to learn how to do straight razor shaving. There will be a short instructional lecture and demo (approx. 30 min.) at the beginning of the class. The remaining class time will be spent practicing shaving either on yourself or on a partner, with instructor oversight and guidance.

For those new to the art, a list of recommended supplies is below. Attendees will need to bring:

  • A straight razor. If you don’t have a straight razor, the Magic Razor is an inexpensive way to get started. Razor blades are not included, but a box of 100 Derby single edge razor blades was $7.59 at Sally.
  • A shaving brush and shaving soap is preferred over shaving soap in an aerosol can; if you bring aerosol can shaving soap, best results can be obtained with the gel variety. Shaving brush/soap can be acquired from Art of Shaving, but they are on the expensive side. Clubman brand brushes are relatively inexpensive (around $10) and available through Amazon, and Daddy Wendell is partial to Colonel Conk’s shaving soap (also available on Amazon).
  • A small towel or two (hand towel size should do).
  • (Optional) Aftershave and/or moisturizer, if desired.
