Study Club November: Relationship Types

Are you looking to learn new skills to help you build better non-monogamous relationships? Do you want to get new ideas and perspectives from other ENM folks on the challenges you are facing? Are you excited to nerd out about relationships? Join us!

Let’s learn together via a monthly, group-driven discussion. Each month we’ll look up resources pertaining to an ENM topic: readings, podcasts, even Reddit threads, and unpack what we’ve found. At the end we will take suggestions for next month's topic. Think of a cross between a book club and a support group; we’ll seek out new tools and techniques relevant to the attendees’ challenges.

We meet at 7 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. If you can't make the in-person event, you can attend remotely. Everyone is welcome, regardless of familiarity with non-monogamy. A $8 donation is suggested, but NOTAFLOF.

Topic (November 2025)

Relationship structures and common patterns. A living glossary or chart explaining all the different types of connections under the very large ENM umbrella. We’ll collect questions and then unpack differences and nuances.

Resources

Make suggestions in the event chat, and we'll edit them into this list!

  1. Polysecure Relationships Chart
  2. Types of Non-Monogamy Chart - mostly taken to spur conversation about the definition of referenced terms, not necessarily as an authority
  3. “More Than Two,” 2nd Ed., Rickert and Zanin, Part 3, “Nonmonogamous Frameworks”

Getting There

We are moving to a new venue, Clio’s Books. Google estimates this to be an 18 minute walk from 19th St. BART Station in downtown Oakland. Parking near the venue can be scarce. Alternately, there is a Lyft / Bay Wheels corral across the street from the venue.

After entering the bookstore, you can find us via the following:

  1. Go down the front stairs
  2. Continue to the left of the bar, towards the back of the store
  3. Continue right towards the bathrooms
  4. On your left is a door marked “private” - hopefully this will be open. That’s us!

The venue serves alcoholic beverages and tea. Please support the venue and buy your drinks from them (except water).
