Study Club December: Parenting & Families

Are you looking to learn new skills to help you build better non-monogamous relationships? Do you want to get new ideas and perspectives from other ENM folks on the challenges you are facing? Are you excited to nerd out about relationships? Join us!

Let’s learn together via a monthly, group-driven discussion. Each month we’ll look up resources pertaining to an ENM topic: readings, podcasts, even Reddit threads, and unpack what we’ve found. At the end we will take suggestions for next month's topic. Think of a cross between a book club and a support group; we’ll seek out new tools and techniques relevant to the attendees’ challenges.

We meet at 7 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. If you can't make the in-person event, you can attend remotely. Everyone is welcome, regardless of familiarity with non-monogamy. A $8 donation is suggested, but NOTAFLOF.

Topic (November 2025)

Parenting and families! The original suggestion was how to approach scheduling the holidays. We can expand that to include everything around building families and living arrangements alternating away from the nuclear family home myth.

This month we're trying out a new panel format, with three "experts" who have lived experience driving the conversation. We encourage everyone to think of points of interest, conflict, or reflection around non-traditional family units. On what topics do you want to hear others' approach?

If you want some suggestions to get you started, here are some ideas:

  1. holiday travel planning and time allocation between partners
  2. when it's appropriate to introduce children to new partners, potential or actual
  3. openness and transparency with children
  4. ending non-monogamous partnerships when children may also have attachment bonds in play

Getting There

Last-minute changes have us at a temporary spot this month. Note that the location is very conveniently located close to 19th St. BART.
