Over the years, All Tied Up San Diego, has believed rope is never just about the ties we make with rope; it's about the ties we build with each other: connections rooted in safety, respect, and care.
Now, we’re opening a new door for many of you.
We know many of you have been eager to explore suspension. We hear you, and we’re excited to offer a new pathway that honors both your enthusiasm and our commitment to safety:
Introducing Suspension School, beginning Saturday, May 10th!
Location: The Usual Place
Time: 9:45 AM – Noon (2nd Saturdays) plus includes the Noon to 2 PM LAB time.
Limited to 9 tying pairs
Cost: $40 per person / $80 per tying pair

One of our core values has always been simple and strong:
We create safer, more empowering, and joyful rope journeys with a strong foundation.
How it works:
Before attending Suspension School, each student will complete our new online course: Introduction to Suspension
*Note: Students who have already completed 203 or the recent Suspension Series are exempt from this requirement.*
This course covers the key foundations we’ve taught in our 203 Series and recent Suspension Series, the same essential skills that allow you to step into the air with confidence, clarity, and care.
The online course allows you to start your journey at your own pace, learning deeply and thoughtfully, and arrive ready to grow, fly, and connect.
We’ve taken our time making this decision because we believe in doing things the right way, not the fastest way.
By adding this step, we stay true to our deepest values: protecting our community, honoring the art, and ensuring every rope journey is built on strong, steady ground.
Ready to begin?
Start your learning today with Introduction to Suspension and join us on May 10th for the first Suspension School event!
We can't wait to continue learning and growing with you.
Thank you for trusting us, tying with us, and being part of this amazing community.
With love, respect, and endless gratitude,
Dan & Renee
All Tied Up San Diego
**Q: Do I need to take the online course before attending Suspension School?**
A: Yes. Completion of both our Getting Started Class and the Introduction to Suspension online course is a prerequisite for all in-person Suspension School classes. This ensures every student arrives with a shared foundation in safety, technique, and scene readiness.
**Q: What’s in the online course?**
A: The course covers key concepts from our 203 Series and Suspension Series, including:
- Suspension-ready harnesses
- Equipment safety and maintenance
- Physics & Basic load management
- Risk awareness
- Consent and negotiation essentials
You can complete it at your own pace before your Suspension School class date.
**Q: I’ve done some suspension before. Do I still need the online course?**
A: Yes. Even experienced students must complete the course. It ensures we're all aligned on safety standards, terminology, and the approach we use at All Tied Up San Diego. It’s about setting you up for success.
**Q: Can I sign up for Suspension School now and take the online course later?**
A: We ask that you complete the online course before registering for an in-person Suspension School event. This lets us keep the class focused, safe, and fully hands-on.
**Q: How do I access the online course?**
A: Once registration opens, a link will be available through our website and posted on our class/event pages. The course is open to all, whether or not you’ve taken classes with us before.
**Q: Can I take the course solo if I don’t have a partner yet?**
A: Absolutely. The online course is designed for solo learners or tying pairs. You’ll still get valuable knowledge and tools, and we encourage everyone to build skills now so you're ready when the right partner or opportunity comes along.
**Q: I have more questions — who can I ask?**
A: Feel free to reach out to us on our website.
