Rough and Ready: Takedown w/ @RogueRigger

Join @RogueRigger for a hands-on workshop focused on mastering safe and effective takedowns in physical play! Whether you’re new to rough body play or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will equip you with the tools and techniques to ensure safety for both you and your partner.

In this class, Rouge will share their expertise in rough body play, preparing you to both give and receive takedowns safely:

  1. Quick overview of falling safety
  2. How to protect someone during a takedown
  3. Hands on practice for three takedown and related techniques:
  4. Lever Action – Using body mechanics for control
  5. Post Removal – Safely disengaging your partner
  6. Perpendicular Force – Applying force for a controlled takedown

This class requires no previous knowledge or specific athletic ability. This is a hands-on workshop so please wear clothing that is easy to move in and a water bottle.

Please note that takedowns and falls carry inherent risks. We will cover strategies to manage and minimize these risks; however, it’s important to understand that there is no 100% safe way to execute a takedown. Safety and informed participation are our priorities.

Will I need a practice partner?

Bringing a partner to pair up with is recommended! We will also do our best to pair up anyone that doesn’t have a partner at the beginning of class... but no guarantee!

What do you need to bring?

  1. Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing (e.g., yoga pants, sportswear).
  2. Water bottle (if any)

We’ll provide water and snacks for refreshment!
