Join NW Gender Alliance in Celebrating 45 Years of Visibility and Resilience!

This year, the NW Gender Alliance (NWGA) proudly celebrates our 45th anniversary—a testament to our enduring presence and advocacy. In a time when transgender rights face relentless challenges and our community is threatened with erasure, we believe it is more important than ever to stand tall, be seen, and make our voices heard.

For Transgender Day of Visibility, we invite you to explore the NWGA archives, a rich collection documenting decades of our history and achievements. We also ask for your help in preserving this legacy—bring your photos, flyers, posters, and memorabilia to share. We'll digitize these pieces to create a comprehensive, lasting record of our collective journey.

Together, let’s honor our past, celebrate our present, and ensure our stories live on for generations to come!

How does The Marie Equi Center serve you?

The Marie Equi Center strongly believes in your right to accessible and informed health care. The Marie Equi Center build our programs around the philosophy and practical application of the theories of cultural and gender affirming health care, Health at Every Size, Racial Justice, Economic Equality, and Non-Violent Communication, with a focus on community advocacy, education, and positive sociocultural change.

Through our Community Health & Recovery Programs, our team of Community Health Workers and Certified Recovery Mentors work one on one with unhoused and insecurely housed LGBTQAI2S+, BIPOC, and disabled folks providing culturally specific peer support, services and systems navigation, harm reduction, and wound care. We provide this care through a person-centered and holistic lens. Through our advocacy work, we aim to uplift and spotlight the lived experiences of LGBTQAI2S+ folks in a way that creates tangible systems change.

Founded in 2014 by Dr. Angela Carter & Katie Cox, The Marie Equi Center (formerly the Equi Institute) was established with a mission to empower & improve the health of LGBTQIA2S+ folks in the Pacific Northwest. Following the legacy of our namesake Dr. Marie Equi, The Marie Equi Center found our voice as a bold, radical, and unapologetically queer advocate for the communities we serve.

How does Sex Positive World serve you?

Sex Positive World is an umbrella organization that encourages and supports worldwide sex-positive communities. We are an entirely volunteer-run non-profit committed to changing societal ideas and values around sexuality through education and empowerment.

Our umbrella covers all aspects of human sexuality, including gender and orientation (LGBTQIA2S+), relationship styles (monogamy-polyamory), and sexual expressions (kink, tantra, lifestyle). We focus on consent and boundaries, how to have a sexy safer sex talk, body-positivity, healthy touch, sexual health, reproductive freedom, trans rights, anti-racism (yes, this is a sex-positive issue!), sex-positive parenting, and more.

This organization was founded in 2009 as a single chapter in Portland, Oregon, and we have since expanded to more than 5,000 members and 10 chapters in cities across the US and Europe.

What is the Rising STARS fund?

Sex Positive World is making anti-racism and intersectionality a priority and part of that is by supporting more voices within our community who may not have the resources to volunteer their time or energy to the sex positive movement, but who have valuable knowledge and ideas to contribute.

This fund was collaboratively created by Dr. Evelin Dacker and Sex Positive World to financially support leadership within Sex-Positive World that identify as Black, Indigenous, a person of color (BIPOC); or transgender, gender-variant, or intersex (TGI - this includes anyone who doesn't identify as cisgender).

This can be for anything from facilitating core classes, developing curriculum for SPW or SP chapters, or gaining sexy leadership skills at conferences or trainings.
