Over time we began to notice the physical impacts of being in TKs and that they are an exclusionary structure for many body types. We also noticed placing the hands behind the back can be triggering for many people. As a result, we created The Lavender Harness, which utilizes a double column or single column and hojo cuff mechanism (depending on the body and person) to replace the standard box tie. In this class, we will guide participants in building this harness. The Lavender Harness can be loaded from the front, back, and side.
Prerequisites: tying partners must have knowledge of both single and double columns. You will need at least two hanks of rope for this harness. Tying partners should also be familiar with managing tension and constructing frictions and lock-offs for harnesses.
Ms. Reemah is a queer woman of color from Atlanta. She has been a part of the kink community since 2017. Ms. Reemah came up in the sisterhood Black Femme Doms (BFD)-Atlanta. She is on the organizing board for Melanin Munch ATL and the founder of Haus Obsidian. Ms. Reemah derives immense joy and connectedness through rope play. There is an intimate connection between a rigger and rope bottom that is profound and like no other. While also providing an outlet for creativity by manifesting the beauty and strength of the bottom. Ms. Reemah has taken strides to increase the visibility, education, participation, and awareness of BIPOCs in the kink community.
Ever since Lavender discovered rope, she has sought out education for rope through attending demos, rope labs, classes/workshops and reading books. One thing she really likes about rope is the transfer and exchange of energy that happens between the top and the bottom. What she gains from doing kink is strengthening the tethers that tie her to a person during the scene and building blocks for strong connections with others within the community. She seeks to increase the visibility of queer black rope bottoms who are curious about all things rope!
