The Neurodivergent Rope Jam hosted by Unbounded Shibari and Friends

With gratitude to VoxBody Studio for inviting us to host this event, Unbounded Shibari and Friends present: The Neurodivergent Rope Jam.

Join Dr. Ben, his tying partner Thread Bound Panda, Ash from the North Bay Rope Lab, and friends, for this new event.

If you identify as neurodivergent or disabled, this is the jam for you. Join us to tie, socialize (or not), while we explore rope in a friendly space.

This is a space where stimming is normal, breaks are expected, and no one needs to mask. A space to explore rope at your own pace, in your own way, without performing for the comfort of anyone else. All genders, sexual expressions, and disabilities welcome.

1:45pm: Early entry for check-in. Check out the space before it starts and acclimate. (Do not setup around any hard points yet.)

2:00pm: The floor and door is open. Grab your spot for the opening circle or find a hard point.

2:15pm: Doors closed / no late entry.

2:15pm. Opening Circle with Unbounded Shibari and Thread Bound Panda, followed by a short intro lesson with Ash from North Bay Rope Lab for those new to rope. As the intro begins, the tying floor opens for everyone in the opening circle to use freely or stay for the class.

5:00pm: Rope jam ends. You are welcome to leave at any time before that. But no late entries.

- All levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.

- Unbounded Shibari is presenting this Jam in cooperation with VoxBody Studio to create a welcoming space for solo or partnered attendees.

- We will offer a beginner intro at each jam for those new to rope. It’s a great way to meet someone and practice together.

- This is a neurodivergent-centered event. Neurotypical partners and emotional support extroverts are welcome; all attending partners should also register with a ticket. We trust you to self-select and assess if this is the right event for you!

- Depending on attendee response, we may make this a recurring event; if this jam feels right for you, please come out and show your support and interest!

- If you have your own rope, please bring it. Loaner house rope is also available for floor ties only. Suspension hard points are available per the usual VoxBody setup — those doing suspension should have their own rope and gear.

- Prepackaged snacks will be provided throughout the jam. Please email unboundedshibari@gmail.com if you have any food requests, allergies, or dietary restrictions.

- Wear comfortable, form-fitting, minimal clothing; underwear or equivalent coverage is required. Bring water, medication, or any accessibility items you need for comfort and focus.

- Please eat before the jam and avoid strong scents to help maintain a sensory-friendly environment. Assistants needed for access accommodations, who are not tying partners, may attend free of charge.

The space will be set up with:

- A no-socializing zone (entryway, available after entry cutoff) for quiet decompression

- A tying zone on the carpet and mats

- A socializing area near the kitchen and couch

- A quiet corner with books and stim toys

Please note: VoxBody is an 18+ space. ID will be checked at check-in for age verification of ALL attendees.

Tickets are $20 per person. If finances are a barrier for you to attend, please email us at voxbody@gmail.com. We hold limited scholarship spots for most all events!

Why a neurodivergent-exclusive space?

Many neurodivergent people spend their lives adjusting to a neurotypical pace: the noise level, the social rules, the expectations of spaces that were not designed with us in mind. In mixed spaces, we often find ourselves managing how we’re perceived instead of being present in our bodies and with our partners. This jam exists so we don’t have to do that.

When you’re surrounded by people whose brains work like yours, something shifts. The pressure to mask drops. Stimming, processing time, sensory needs, and different communication styles aren’t things to explain or apologize for, they’re the norm. Rope can become easier to explore when you’re not spending energy on passing.

This space is for us: autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, OCD, PTSD/C-PTSD, sensory processing differences, and all other neurological variations. Both self-identified or formally diagnosed. If you also hold other marginalized identities, LGBTQ+, person of color, disabled, you. are. welcome.

Dr. Ben, founder of Unbounded Shibari, will be your host for the afternoon. Please reach out with any questions, dietary restrictions, or concerns before or during the event. unboundedshibari@gmail.com
