TK Triptych: A Daylong Exploration of Three Views of Box Tie with DanceHallDyke and SlabMeHarder

"One rope"? "Two rope"? "THREE rope"?? What's the difference, what's the point, what does it even mean anyway?!

There's so much more (and less!) to TK than you might think. We believe all three phases of TK are useful and beautiful in their own way. Join us for a journey through three different views of our beloved box tie. Bring your open minds, allllll your good questions, and walk away with your TK world being expanded

Prerequisites:

* This class involves multiple suspensions. Previous suspension experience is a must.

* People tying must be able to fluidly tie upline hangers and lockoffs, as well as single column and all basic frictions.

* This class is aimed at folks who have at least some experience tying and in TKs, even if you don't tie them that often!

If you have never tied a TK before, you should have solid experience tying SUSPENDABLE chest harnesses and a solid knowledge of various frictions and how to calibrate tension on wraps.

This is NOT a "how to tie a TK" class.

* The exercises for this class are designed to work with TK. VoxBody offers plenty of suspension classes where a variety of chest harnesses can be used; please only attend this class if you have some experience and some desire to spend an afternoon with TK!

* People in rope must be aware of possible nerve issues arising in TK and able to check for nerve issues.

* People in rope must also be able to be in some kind of arms back shape (low hands gote included) for the day. We will do three suspension shapes that all involve a box tie shape.

Doors will open at 10:30am / class starts at 11am. Please arrive on time to settle in before class begins!

We will take a one hour break midday.

Gear needed: Every tying pair will be on a single point. Bring all rope and suspension gear needed for a single point.

If finances are a barrier for your attendance at this class, please email us at voxbody@gmail.com. We have limited scholarship observer spots available!

About the presenters:

Dancehalldyke (she/they) is a switch who likes to play with power dynamics, emotional vulnerability, and darker themes from both sides of the rope. Her style is a mix of traditional kinbaku with dynamic transitions and athleticism. She has a background in classical ballet, modern dance, and mathematical physics.

Slab_me_harder (she/her) explores emotions, capabilities, and vulnerabilities thru rope. Her goal is to create mesmerizing and emotional rope scenes and performances that seek to subvert traditional rope norms and build space for queer community in rope. Their rope performances together and separately have been featured at Folsom Street Fair, Seattle Erotic Art Festival, SF Pride, Nuit des Cordes, VoxBody Studio, Birdhaus Toronto, and more. They have taught together and separately, nationally and internationally at Dark Odyssey, VoxBody Studio, Temple New York, the Jungle House Costa Rica, Birdhaus Toronto, and more.
