We're bringing our 'blow it up' approach to the TK - breaking the pattern into its core components and then rebuilding it to suit our needs. Underneath all the dogma and online arguments is an incredibly useful, adaptable form; let's make it work for you.
Run of Show:
TK Tie-Along: 10:00a - 1:00pm
We'll explore the core elements of box ties through a hands-on morning. We'll workshop several variations with a focus on mitigating risk and adapting for individual preferences and needs. Two wraps versus three? V shape versus T shape? Low hands, high hands, no hands? Let's get into it.
Lunch Break: 1:00-2:00pm
Go feed your bodies!
Guided TK Lab: 2:00-4:00pm
Let's take all that knowledge and put it into practice. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with their preferred form and get focused feedback from instructors. Tie, untie, tie again. Prerequisites: Familiarity with tying harnesses is essential for this workshop.
Prerequisites:
Students tying should know a non-tightening single column tie and understand how to use frictions to build a harness on the body. Come to a Containers class to prep! You do NOT need to be confident tying TKs/box ties but some familiarity with the form will be helpful. We recommend checking out a video tutorial in advance, see: https://www.youtube.com/@DevilMaskSociety
Students being tied should be familiar with providing real-time feedback as they are tied. Familiarity with being suspended is recommended but not required.
Reviews: "By the end of the class I think I have a much better understanding of the differences between a T-Shape and a V-shape, or Stemmed vs Stemless as I had previously understood them, and I found all your tips and tricks to be super helpful."
