TK Tune Up: A Box Tie Intensive

Let’s blow up the box tie - on purpose. This full-day intensive takes the most hotly debated harness in rope and breaks it down into something useful. Together, we’ll take apart the chest harness often called a "TK" or "box tie" into its core components, explore their purpose, and rebuild them to suit your needs.

You’ll learn not just HOW to tie it but why each element matters, how to modify the form, and when other options might be more successful.

Run of Show:

TK Tie-Along: 10:00a - 1:00 pm

Start the day with a hands-on breakdown of the core elements of the TK. We’ll explore multiple configurations:

✅ Two-wrap vs. three-wrap

✅ T-shape vs. V-shape

✅ Low hands, high hands, no hands

✅ Safety, placement, and purpose

Lunch Break: 1:00 - 2:00 pm

Fuel up and give your bodies a break.

Guided TK Lab: 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Now we build. This lab offers time for focused practice, experimentation, and individualized instructor feedback. Tie, untie, tie again.

You Should Know:

  1. Students tying should be comfortable building multi-part harnesses using frictions and managing tension.
  2. Students being tied should be able to give real-time feedback about comfort and sensation.
  3. Come to a Containers class beforehand if you’d like a refresher on harness fundamentals.
  4. Students will have the opportunity to load/suspend their harnesses during Lab Time

Need a primer before you arrive? We recommend reviewing this tutorial from Devil Mask Society: 🔗 youtube.com/@DevilMaskSociety

You Should Bring:

  1. Rope for at least one chest harness
  2. A safety cutting tool
  3. A partner to tie with
  4. Curiosity and a willingness to play with form

Student Feedback: “By the end of class I had a much better understanding of the differences between a T-shape and a V-shape. All the tips and tricks were super helpful!”
