This class is a collaborative, partially discussion-based environment focused on expanding our horizons in rope. All of us regardless of experience level have certain patterns, styles, energies, vibes, emotions, speeds, etc. that we usually use when tying. By purposefully working on tying in ways that are unusual for us, we expand our toolboxes and the variety of scenes available to us. In the class we work in groups on several exercises to expand our view of what rope can be.
Class participants will benefit most when they have some prior rope experience. At the very least, top should know how to tie a single column, and bottom should have prior rope experience, be able to distinguish between nerve damage and circulation issues, and both tops and bottoms should be able to communicate with each other while tying. This class is most beneficial for partner tying where pairs have tied together before, but those newer to rope, pairs who have not tied together before, and self-tiers are welcome to participate.
Dancehalldyke (she/they) and SluttyHands (he/him) are San Francisco Bay based rope artists. Sluttyhands has been tying for ten years, Dancehalldyke for seven. They both primarily tie in fairly traditional Japanese styles and are heavily influenced by Barkas and Addie. Their tying together typically focuses on going to dark and vulnerable places and playing with a lot of emotions, and can range from violent and rough, to creepy and distant, and occasionally even to sincere and loving. They want to offer you new ways of exploring each other with rope, to show you concrete tools beyond patterns that allow you to relate and communicate with each other effectively.
