Woven: An Exclusive Femme-Only AfterDark Rope Jam

Hosted by IguanaBonds, Kelpnoodles, Rizz, and Bugbight

What does it mean to be a femme in rope? What does it mean to you to tie with other femmes? Have you ever heard the term rope bunny and cringed— or perhaps immediately embraced the term? Have you been talking rope with someone before they say that so-and-so is a good *female* rigger?

At our inaugural Woven, our opening discussion will be around what it means to be (and tie) femmes in rope. This will be a facilitated group discussion designed to help us all share our experiences and understand what tying in all-femme

configurations means to us all. Come prepared to listen, share, and better understand what tying with other femmes means to you.

Doors are open during the social hour, from 6:30 PM to 7:30. Play space opens at 7:30pm.

About Woven

Woven is a rope jam and social for femme-identifying individuals to share space, mingle, tie, and embrace the femme identity as a community. We center femmes of all sorts in a non-sexual environment away from the male gaze.

Who is Woven for?

Woven is by femmes, for femmes. You are welcome at Woven if you identify as femme in any way. We center and embrace femme identities in all forms, regardless of presentation or sexuality.

While Woven is a rope jam and has open tying time, our focus on socializing and community means that we also encourage femmes who just want to be in an all-femme environment to attend, even without an intent to tie. Please note that sexual play and forms of play that are not centered in rope are not welcome at this event.

What is the structure of a Woven jam?

At Woven, we prioritize the community and social aspect of our identities and rope, not just the tying. We begin each Woven with a social hour where everyone can chat, have a snack, and meet other attendees. From there, we will have an optional opening circle to go over event rules and intention-setting, followed by a facilitated discussion or beginner-friendly skillshare and open tying space.

Our typical schedule:

  • 6:30-7:30 Doors open; social hour
  • 7:30-8:30 (Optional) Opening Circle; Discussion or Skillshare
  • 7:30-10 Open tying time; open socializing time

Doors are open during the social hour, from 6:30 PM to 7:30. Play space opens at 7:30pm.

Venue

This event will be held at Stopgap in San Francisco. The address will be provided to ticket holders for privacy and safety reasons. For planning purposes, it is in SOMA and a 10 minute walk from the UN Plaza/Civic Center BART station.

Stopgap is a historic space in the SF kink community, near 9th and Mission, transformed by club lighting and an ambient music backdrop, this event promises an atmosphere where you can relax, learn, and play freely. There is ample space and mats for floor ties and at least 14 hardpoints for those ready to practice suspension bondage. The first floor is fully accessible, with social areas and accessible play equipment near power outlets.

Event Rules & Guidelines

  • Ask for affirmative consent before touching another person or their things, engaging in play, or escalation of play.
  • Don’t cruise for play. Emphasize socializing, skill sharing, and learning.
  • Depending on the number of attendees, available play spaces may be limited. Be prepared to wait or get creative with your playspace.
  • Clean your play spaces after using them.
  • This is a sensual, not sexual space. Penetration with toys, fingers or other body parts, vigorous genital touch, and oral sex are not allowed. We ask that you play with the intention of centering your community and rope practice, managing your energy in scene and not disrupting other scenes. Keep scene volume below the volume of the music.
  • While other forms of kink furniture may be present, Woven is a rope jam specifically; please respect that intention. Feel free to explore rope and other activities together however!
  • Photography of your own scenes are permitted with the consent of everyone in the photo and prior discussion will be done with them (posting, tagging, etc).
  • Breathplay is not allowed. Additionally, please read our AfterDark & Stopgap Neck Rope Definition Announcement.

The rules and guidelines are in addition to the general AfterDark Events rules/guidelines found here.

Inclusivity

While we are an event only open to femme identified individuals, Woven is an inclusive celebration where people of different ages, races, ethnicities, gender expressions, gender identities, sexualities, and abilities hold space together. We expect all guests to honor the diversity of our community and we will not tolerate behavior or language to the contrary at our events.

About the Hosts

@IguanaBonds (she/her) is a rope switch who supports Woven through volunteering while constantly building her skills as a top and bottom, laughing through suffering ties, and fangirling over fat people in rope. She identifies as equal part lizard sprawled on a rock in the sun and Team Mom. She’s been studying rope since early 2023 and is also a host of Wrapt, another AfterDark rope jam held on fourth Mondays.

@kelpnoodles (she/her) is a queer rope switch and self-suspender with a fondness for the bite of rope and the trouble it gets her into. She’s a masochist at heart and likes exploring intensity, vulnerability, and the occasional test of endurance in her play. When she’s not in rope, she’s probably getting tattooed or co-hosting Praxium’s monthly Sharps Jam.

@Rizz (she/they) is a switchy rope brat, though you’d be forgiven for thinking she’s a bottom. She started her journey with rope mid-2023 and has been serving as the Society of Janus Social Activities director since early 2024. Beyond Woven, you can find her hosting Ignite at Stopgap every second Saturday and helping out with a variety of other events.

@bugbight (they/them) began their relationship with rope in 2022, but it was not love at first tie. These days, they’re a rope switch with a consuming infatuation for suffering, all things rope, and playful torment. They hope to offer resources they wish they’d had when starting out, and to foster our queer community. Outside of kink, they’re a crafty, planty gremlin with a soft spot for cats.
